I just received this information: there is this proposal this summer at "La Station le vaste Monde" in St Brieuc, which is not far from Brest.
This is a proposal from FUGITIF who is a group of young artists, writers and cultural operators wishing to open their field of action and research. There are french and german from Leipzig.

The artist project coordinator at Leipzig Falk Messerschmidt. Maybe you know him? This is an artist residency at the building at 51 of the Josephstrasse in Leipzig?

We decided that every student should work on a presentation of his work for the new meeting which should take place in Leipzig, under simplified shape:
A representative work of the approach (only one work) with a text of synthesis, to make work easier.
Every student can use this blog to exchange in a preliminary way on the meeting. We have already observed similar approaches. We think it would be easy to build a common work.

Leipzig-Brest "Transformation project"

This project of exchange begins with a journey of week in Leipzig in the end of November, 2010 with a grant of exchange Erasmus. The purpose was to meet the Prof in art history Ralph Hartmann and to set up an educational project in the form of wokshop common between students of both schools.
During a conference Sylvie Ungauer (Prof in Brest's Art School) presented the school of Brest in its structure which is very different from the school of Leipzig and in its educational activities, in particular of the research work engaged in "platforms" in the second cycle. To do it she had collected some documentation on the works of the students. This presentation was accompanied with a presentation of my personal works in connection with the education delivered in the school.

The meeting with Katrin von Malzahn has was not possible because of the bad weather.

Description of the project:
The idea is to work on common postulates which involve the context of life and work appropriate for each city. In what problems are different or are common to the artistic research according to the place where one work: : porosity, personal biography, culture, economy...
Both site are extremely different in their geographical situation but can meet in the processings that they underwent by the reconstruction after war for the city of Brest and by the decline of the heavy industry in Leipzig. These processings have in both cities produces fallow lands which we can consider as "non-lieux". The reflection and the work should take place « in-situ », places chosen by the students themselves.
